Martyna Rzepecka

Martyna Rzepecka, a distinguished visual artist born in Poznań in 1989, centers her artwork around the body—exploring it as both a form and creative instrument, and delving into its various interpretations and fragments. Employing traditional graphic techniques, Martyna enhances her creations with objects and installations. She is deeply captivated by the context of matrix-matter as a standalone artistic form and is intrigued by the boundary of understanding an artwork and its tactile, haptic realm of perception. A fervent enthusiast of engraving in linocuts, she passionately dedicates herself to this craft. In 2017, Martyna achieved a doctorate in fine arts from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Her illustrious career boasts participation in over 80 group and solo exhibitions on both national and international platforms, including showcases in England, Norway, China, and Japan. A recipient of numerous artistic awards and scholarships, Martyna's works have found homes in collections both in Poland and internationally, notably at the Tama Art University Museum in Tokyo. Currently, Martyna serves as an assistant professor at the Department of Drawing in the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. Additionally, she is a lecturer in Graphics at Collegium Da Vinci in Poznań.

Left Hand Exercises

"This is a project that has been growing on me for years, as I have been struggling with recurring injuries to my right hand due to overwork in linorite techniques and fencing training for a long time. This year has been especially difficult...

During my residency, I attempted to develop graphic matrices and create drawings with my left hand to use a type of dysfunction as a new value.

I think I succeeded, I'm very happy, it was a productive time and at the same time making me aware of the ability of my body to work. The lab of the lab. formed 6 linorites ok 20 drawings, sketchbooks, graphics installation, drawing object. But it's not about the amount, it's about the good and creative time for me, in an amazing space, which I will miss (already miss)."
